Biography
Yvonne Douthat, mezzo-soprano, is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She holds degrees from both Louisiana State University and the University of Houston. She is in the final stages of persuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts in voice at the Eastman School of Music under Dr. Robert McIver. Opera credits include Romeo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Isabella in L’Italiana in Algeri, Nicklausse in Les Contes d’Hoffman, Dinah in Trouble in Tahiti, Madame de la Haltière in Cendrillion, Ramiro in La Finta Giardiniera and many others. Yvonne spent two summers in residence at the Ohio Light Opera where she performed Tessa in The Gondoliers and other operetta roles. In 2005 and 2006, she was a resident at the Marlboro Chamber Music Festival exploring and performing art song and vocal chamber music repertoire. Ms. Douthat’s oratorio credits include the title role in Handel’s Solomon, soprano II soloist in Mozart’s C Minor Mass, and solo roles in Schumann’s Faust, which she performed with the Eastman-Rochester Philarmonia. She also performed the mezzo solos of the Duruflé Requiem with the Rochester Oratorio Society, Handel’s Messiah with the Genesee Valley Orchestra and Chorus and Beethoven’s 9th with the URSO. She presently resides in Salzburg, Austria with her husband, tenor, Virgil Hartinger.
